MY STORY
Hello and Welcome!

I'm Shalan, and I and so glad you are here! There was a time where if you’d asked me how I would describe myself, I would have said, "UNRECOGNIZABLE."
That’s the word I’d use to sum up some of the most difficult chapters of my life. I didn’t recognize the person I saw in the mirror, and to be honest, neither did my family or my friends.
My journey has been filled with more challenges than most could ever imagine. From a young age, I battled severe arthritis while dancing in commercials and performing at the 1996 Olympics, defying doctors who couldn’t believe I could walk, let alone dance. Later, I endured a high-risk pregnancy that resulted in the loss of one of my twins, a traumatic hysterectomy at age 24, and over 10 surgeries over a span of 3 years—many of them life-threatening. But the storms didn’t stop there.

I battled with bouts of depression and suicidal ideation, survived an abusive marriage, experienced betrayal from family and friends, faced investigations after being falsely accused of a federal offense at work all while walking my young neurodivergent child through her struggles with anxiety.

The hardest part was The Fear. Fear of an uncertain future. Fear of being stuck in what I had become. Fear that I would remain powerless and struggle for the rest of my life. Fear that I would never Be Free or Thrive in life.

But here’s where my story takes a turn. A pivotal moment, when everything changed for me.
In the middle of this chaos, I get sick, and I'm on, what is supposed to be, my deathbed. No longer speaking, I'm at my lowest point. I silently pray asking God, “Why me?” I heard God answer me. Not in a soft whisper, but in a clear, unwavering voice: “Why not you?” He reminded me that I am His child, empowered, equipped, and resilient. With His strength, I could rise above it all.

So, I stopped trying to fight on my own. I chose to trust Him and let His power work through me. And I have been victorious ever since!

I would be honored to speak at your next event and share how you too can rise above your circumstances and walk in the strength God has already provided.

If I can do it, so can you!
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about my story.
With Love,
